Nearly half of the global population has limited or no access to key tests and services essential for diagnosing common diseases – both communicable and non-communicable —such as:

  • Tuberculosis
  • Basic tests for pregnant women, such as Hepatitis B or Syphilis.

For low income countries, only 19% of the low and middle income people have access to the simplest diagnostic tests.

Andrew Ian Smith

Co-Founder and Chairman

Andrew Ian Smith is an experienced innovator in digital healthcare and population health delivery, leading online medical and healthcare financing solutions in 10+ countries, from Bangladesh to India, Ghana and Chile. He has extensive emerging markets experience in healthcare service development, launch and scaling, innovation and product development, business development, and the design and delivery of new medical technology services in low resource settings. In Bangladesh, Andrew was Co-Founder of Telenor Health, the largest online-offline healthcare provider in Bangladesh, and grew it to serve 6 million patients. Under his leadership the TH team also delivered an extensive set of population health projects with USAID, UK AID, John’s Hopkins University, IEDCR and BGMEA, impacting the health of further 4 million people. Before Telenor, Andrew was Global Director for Development Markets at international healthcare provider Bupa – where he oversaw delivery of a variety of new healthcare delivery models in emerging markets, including integrated “digital clinics” with virtual doctors brought to pharmacies and diagnostic labs, patient support programs for NCDs and COPD, empowering female health workers to provide diagnostic and screening with AI technology. Under Andrew’s leadership, Bupa also became a core partner of the World Health Organisation’s Be Healthy Be Mobile, established a global CEO Collaboration on workplace health with peers from Unilever, IBM, Telefonica. He also led Bupa’s first global environment strategy and £100m global investment programme, with 950 cleam energy projects implemented across UK, India, Thailand, Spain, Poland, and Australia (largest private solar panel user in ANZ)

Md. Shoriful Islam

Co-Founder and MD

Md. Shoriful Islam is having 18 years of experience in Business development and Channel Management in Telecommunication, Mobile Financial Services, FMCG and Healthcare Business. He has played leadership role in Grameenphone Ltd, Airtel Bangladesh Ltd, Robi Axitia Ltd, bKash Ltd and Digital Healthcare Solution Ltd. Md. Shoriful Islam has completed BBA from IBA, Jahangirnagar University, Savar, Dhaka. He has completed MPH from Sate University of Bangladesh.

Dr Niti Pall

Senior Advisor

Dr Niti Pall is the Medical Director at the Global Health Practice, KPMG, and delivered PPP and universal healthcare proposals and project analysis in 15 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America. Co-led KPMG’s Center for Universal Health Coverage. She is also Chair and Founder of Harbr, healthcare advisory firm In Bangladesh she was the Clinical Board Chair for Telenor Health, the largest digital health provider in Bangladesh In India, she founded Health India Private Ltd, a chain of primary care clinics across India later incorporated into HCL healthcare A GP Doctor for over 30 years, helped to build up the largest chain of primary care clinics in the UK – the Modality Partnership. She has also held several senior commissioning roles in the English NHS. Dr Niti was also the Medical Director of Emerging Markets for BUPA, where she established and supervised clinics in China, Saudi Arabia, Poland and Hong Kong and helped create health benefit management systems in India, Hong Kong, and Thailand. In India, she worked closely with the government and Max Bupa on RSBY a low cost health insurance scheme.

S S Biswas

Co-founder and Director

A seasoned banker, S S Biswas. During his colourful banking career, he worked with Sonali Bank in various capacities for 30 years. His dynamic leadership was on display in several socioeconomic areas.
